Welcome to the Hockley County Democratic Party. Located in northwestern Texas on the beautiful Llano Estacado, Hockley County has a rich history that traces back to early ranching, the massive expansion of farming, and the historic discovery of vast oil reserves. Officially organized in 1921 with Levelland as our county seat, our community was built by the hardworking people who brought life to the region. Today, our local economy is still proudly driven by a strong agricultural sector—producing cotton, sorghum, wheat, and corn—alongside a robust energy and petroleum industry.
From the historic Ropesville Depot and Smyer to the Hockley County Courthouse in Levelland and our agricultural plains.
We are a diverse, growing county of over 21,500 residents. With a vibrant Hispanic population, a median age of 36, and a dedicated workforce, Hockley County is home to families who care deeply about the future of our region. As the local Democratic Party, we reflect the diversity and the hardworking spirit of our community, striving to ensure that every resident has a voice in our local and state government.

The Hockley County Elections Office is newly located at 710 Avenue H in Levelland, Texas. Whether you are utilizing countywide early voting locations or heading to the polls on Election Day (when polls are open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.), we are committed to empowering every eligible voter to participate in shaping our future.
Our Mission
Under the leadership of County Chair Aaron Gonzalez, the Hockley County Democratic Party is dedicated to fighting for working families, equal rights, and the prosperity of our entire community. We believe in a Texas where everyone has a fair shot, where diversity is celebrated, and where our government works for all the people.
Our core priorities reflect the urgent needs and values of our residents. We are fierce advocates for public education, standing firmly against school voucher schemes that drain essential funds from our public schools. We believe in investing our tax dollars directly into our classrooms to reduce class sizes, support our teachers, and ensure resources for all children. We are also proud champions of equality and civil rights, steadfastly supporting non-discrimination and marriage equality so that all Texans have the freedom to marry who they love.
We believe that a healthy community is a strong community. That is why we advocate for the expansion of Medicaid to ensure that every working family has access to affordable healthcare. Additionally, we stand for humane and dignified immigration policies that offer fair pathways to citizenship.
